SHELTON, Wash. — Officers with the Shelton Police Department's swift water rescue team recovered a body from Goldsborough Creek Saturday.
Police said a kayaker called 911 around 2 p.m. and reported seeing a body floating in the creek near the 200 block of Park Street in Shelton.
Officials said the body appeared to have been in the water for an extended period of time, but they did not see any obvious signs of trauma.
"The preliminary investigation suggests the male could be a man who was reported missing from the downtown area to the Shelton Police Department early this year in March," officials wrote in a news release.
Officials turned the body over to the Mason County Coroner who is scheduled to perform an autopsy on Tuesday.
Police said the identification of the body will be announced by the Mason County Coroner's office.
