Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in Seattle

SEATTLE — A 40-year-old man is dead after being struck by a car in Seattle's Leschi neighborhood.

The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Lakeside Ave. South. All lanes of Lakeside Ave. South and South Irving Street were closed.

A woman driving northbound struck the man in the road, the Seattle Police Department said.

Seattle fire crews said the man had to be extricated from underneath the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was evaluated, but officers found no signs of impairment. She was released after being interviewed by investigators.

The crash is under investigation.
