New photo released of missing Seattle deputy fire chief as search continues

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office has released a new photo of the Seattle deputy fire chief who vanished nearly two weeks ago.

The photo was pulled from a security camera in the vicinity of where Jay Schreckengost stopped to buy gas in Naches on Nov. 1.

The footage was recorded the day before he went hunting and then vanished.

Search and rescue volunteers will go out again this weekend to search for him as they are trained volunteers, including law enforcement and firefighters from various agencies.

No help is being accepted from those who are not first responders or certified in search and rescue due to the conditions and treacherous terrain.

Kittitas County deputies said they know it is frustrating for people who want to help, but they said they cannot send people out who do not have search and rescue training.

Anyone with information about Schreckengost’s disappearance is asked to call the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office.
