SEATTLE — A rally was held Tuesday morning outside of the Starbucks headquarters in south Seattle as employees picketed and shared their demands to unionize.
A group of about 12 picketers called on CEOs past and present, including Howard Schultz, to stop union busting.
Among the group were Starbucks employees from Seattle and across the country.
Seattle city councilmember Kshama Sawant backs the movement, calling on the city council to back her resolution to condemn the union-busting efforts of the company.
Sawant also offered her support to the workers of the two local stores – 5th and Pike and the Westlake drive-thru -- that participated in the gathering.
Sawant also promised $10,000 of her “solidarity fund” to help the cause.
She said they’re talking to Starbucks workers about a national day of action.

The company denies any claims of union busting. In fact, they support a workers right to unionize.
That said, they think employees – who they call “partners” can accomplish that without a union’s backing. @KIRO7Seattle #Seattle
