Man suspected in attempted child abduction at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in custody

KING COUNTY, Wash. — A man who allegedly attempted to abduct a young child from a family at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday was taken into custody, a spokesperson for the Port of Seattle said.

According to officials, the man started following the family at the airport and as the family was seeking assistance in the arrivals area, the man tried to grab the child’s wrist and reportedly said he wanted to take the child.

The family was able to get the child away from the man even as he continued to try and get the child, officials said. The family blocked him.

While the mother of the child returned to the terminal, a family friend held onto the man until police arrived, according to officials.

Police arrested the man and he was booked into the King County Jail for second-degree attempted kidnapping.

No one was injured in the incident, which remains under investigation.
