A man was killed in Auburn and a woman was sent to the hospital early Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle.
The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Traffic was coming northbound on Auburn Way South and police said cars had the green light, but the couple still crossed the street. They were in a crosswalk, investigators said.
One car stopped for the couple, but a truck in the outside lane did not see them and hit them, police said. The man died at the scene; the woman was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, the region’s trauma center.
Police said the driver was given sobriety tests and passed, and volunteered to give his blood. The driver was released at the scene.
The identity of the man who died was not released Saturday and is expected to come from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office next week.
