Police release video from fatal shooting at Edmonds Senior Center; ask for public's help

EDMONDS, Wash. — (1/7) Update: Edmonds Police are asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate the fatal shooting that occurred at a party on Dec. 14 at the Edmonds Senior Center.

Alexander Rhodes, 23, died after being shot multiple times.

Detectives are working to track down anyone who may have been involved.

On Monday, Edmonds police released an edited version of cellphone video of the shooting as it unfolded. Click here for a link to the video.

"We know there were eyewitnesses to this and we know that someone took evidence from the scene. Our goal is to bring this young man's killer to justice, but we are going to need the people who were there to come forward and be honest about what happened," Detective Andy Mehl said.

Original Report: 

A man was fatally shot at a party at the Edmonds Senior Center early Saturday morning. Two suspects are now in custody.

The center had been rented out for a large party, with over 100 people at the event. An Edmonds police officer was patrolling nearby the Edmonds Senior Center when he heard several shots ring out.

A vehicle in a parking lot nearby quickly drove off. The officer chased the vehicle, briefly losing it before finding it in the Westgate area of Edmonds Way.

Officers detained three people inside the vehicle. They were later able to determine that one of the passengers was the shooter and identified him as a 21-year-old man from the SeaTac area. The driver was also a 21-year-old man from SeaTac. The third person was interviewed and released.

The shooter and driver were booked at the Snohomish County Jail, on suspicion of second-degree murder and eluding a police officer, respectively.
