SEATTLE — Hundreds of breast cancer survivors, their friends and families were decked out in pink at Seattle Center Friday morning to kick off the annual Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure.
Hundreds of walkers are participating this weekend. The 3-Day route covers about 15-22 miles each day for three days in a row, totaling about 60 miles through the greater Seattle area.
They will walk to Marymoor Park in Redmond for the first day, with pit stops along the way.
3-Day participants raised at least $2,300 to help raise awareness for breast cancer and for research for a cure. There is also an option for a one-day walk of 20 miles with a $750 fundraising commitment.
Since 2005, the Seattle 3-Day has raised more than $60 million in the fight to end breast cancer.
The closing ceremony for the walk will take place on Sunday at 4:30 pm at Memorial Stadium at the Seattle Center.
