If you’re getting outside this weekend experts are reminding people about the importance of wearing sunscreen.

Friday is National ‘Don’t Fry Day,’ created by the National Council on skin cancer prevention to raise awareness and reduce skin cancer rates.

Steph Mann, 35, says her family still enjoys spending time outdoors but after she got skin cancer four years ago, they take every precaution.

“I do wear a hat now. When I do put SPF on, it’s 50. It’s not it’s not 15 anymore. I will put 50 or 75 on then and always in the shade, never out,” said Mann.

Mann says it’s good to have fun in the sun but to be careful. She continues to get skin exams to check for changes on her skin and encourages others to see their dermatologist every year.

According to dermatologists, the best sunscreen is the one you’ll actually use.
