Dogs rescued from Eastern Washington puppy mills up for adoption

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Dozens of dogs from Eastern Washington are close to finding their forever homes.

In late September, Stevens County authorities got the call that 255 dogs and puppies were in need of rescuing out of two separate illegal puppy mills.

On Tuesday, Pasado's Safe Haven met at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds to facilitate with separate rescue facilities in Western Washington on getting 100 more rescues ready for adoption.

Stephanie Perciful, Sanctuary Director at Pasado's Safe Haven, says after the horrific living conditions the dogs endured, they are ready to find a new home for them.

"Once we get them healthy and medically taken care of, as well as behaviorally, then we get them out into their forever homes," Perciful says.

Pasado's has already medically treated the first 90 dogs, spay and neutering, treating cases with parasites, and eye and dental work.

Based on the puppies' medical history, Perciful hopes to find the right homes for these rescues now.

"We'll be looking for really specific homes that can handle the care that they need, the ongoing care that they need," Perciful says.
