Crews searching for missing hiker last seen in Sequim near Slab Camp

SEQUIM — Crews are searching for a missing hiker last seen in Sequim in the Slab Camp area near the Deer Ridge Trailhead.

The hiker -- 44-year-old California resident Hunter Fraser -- left his car at the trailhead on Monday. Fraser planned to hike 40 miles over two nights, although he did not tell anyone what his exact route would be.

He last texted his family on Tuesday morning and was due back in Seattle by midday Wednesday.

Fraser is an “extremely experienced solo hiker,” and is said to have a “well-supplied gray backpack” along with a 1-person teal Mountain Hardware “Solitude” tent.

Two teams with Clallam County Search and Rescue searched the Slab Camp area on Thursday.

Anyone with any information on where Fraser might be should call the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office at (360) 417-2459.
