PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Multiple fire agencies responded to two brush fires Thursday night in Pierce County.
One fire broke out south of 198th Avenue East and 158th Street East near the Tehaleh neighborhood. The other fire, which broke out later, was in a remote area that is two miles off Orting Road North and 186th Avenue East.
Crews from East Pierce Fire and Rescue, Orting Fire and the Department of Natural Resources were called to the scene, including a wildland strike team.
Some crews were assigned to protect nearby homes; however, no evacuations were ordered.
The cause of the fires are under investigation.
