TUKWILA, Wash. — A collision involving a semitruck on southbound Interstate 5 in Tukwila blocked all lanes except the HOV lane Thursday night.
Multiple hazmat crews were called to the scene near State Route 518 after the semi landed on its side around 9:30 p.m.
The truck was torn apart in the crash.
No injuries were reported.
Once fuel was pumped out of the fuel tank, the remains of the semi were loaded onto a flatbed truck.
The scene took hours to clear. All lanes have since reopened.
Crews from the Tukwila Fire Department, Renton Regional Fire Authority, Puget Sound Fire, King County Fire District 2, and the Port of Seattle Fire Department responded.
Update on the I-5 closure at Southcenter: the "front half" of the truck is loaded on a flatbed but we waiting for a contractor to pump out the remaining fuel from the tank before it can be loaded. The HOV bypass lane is still open for all traffic. pic.twitter.com/dcFDTOq5Og
