PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on State Route 706 at 314th Avenue East on Saturday night in Ashford, Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer said.
The collision occurred after 7:30 p.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was taken into custody for driving under influence, Reyer said.
The collision caused the road to be closed for an extended period.
The cause of the fatal incident is under investigation.
