74-year-old Stanwood man arrested for alleged child rape, molestation

STANWOOD, Wash. — A 74-year-old Stanwood man was arrested for alleged rape and molestation of a child, Snohomish County deputies announced.

Officials said a woman walked into a room Friday night and saw the suspect allegedly sexually assaulting a minor, according to a press release. The woman brought the victim to the hospital and called 911.

Snohomish County deputies and detectives from the Special Investigations Unit responded and began to investigate.

Through a series of interviews, detectives determined they have probable cause to arrest the suspect, according to a press release.

Detectives got a search warrant and went to the suspect’s home around 7 a.m. Saturday. The suspect was taken into custody, deputies said.

During an interview, the suspect allegedly admitted to assaulting the victim for about 2 years, according to Snohomish County detectives.

The man was taken to the Snohomish County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of first-degree rape of a child, second-degree rape of a child, first-degree child molestation and second-degree child molestation.

Police are continuing to investigate.
