SEATTLE — The young victims of 45-year-old Jason Paur are closer to a conclusion from a child porn scheme they were unwittingly subjected to.
The former cross country ski coach at the Bush School in Seattle now admits to secretly video recording young women on a school trip. Paur changed his plea to guilty Monday morning in a federal courtroom in Seattle.
Paur was soft-spoken and timid as he admitted to the child porn charges. In exchange for his plea, the U.S. Attorney is recommending no more than 10 years in prison. Previously, Paur faced a minimum of 15 years. A spokesperson for the prosecutor said they made the deal to spare the victims from having to testify. And that was the reaction from the Bush School which sent KIRO 7 this statement:
“Jason Paur’s plea this morning means that the Bush community members who participated in the Silver Star cross-country ski trip in 2013 will not be asked to testify in court. Our first and highest priority continues to be the healing and recovery of those affected by Paur's actions.”
There were few people in the courtroom for the plea hearing Monday. One man told KIRO 7 he knows many of the families involved and wanted to be there for the guilty plea. He says the whole community is looking forward to putting this behind them.
Paur will be sentenced on February 2.
