Crews quickly extinguish Auburn storage facility fire

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

AUBURN, Wash. — Ten storage units were heavily damaged after a fire Friday afternoon in Auburn.

The fire happened at the Auburn Public Storage facility at 3624 Auburn Way North.

After 4 p.m., a customer was storing his truck at the facility when he reported seeing smoke coming from one of the buildings.

When firefighters arrived, there were heavy smoke and flames coming from a 100-foot-by-40-foot building.

More crews were called to the scene.

Crews got the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

Ten units had heavy fire damage and 40 addition units had light to moderate smoke and water damage. The building had 80 storage units.

There were no injuries, but people will not be allowed in to check on their stuff until Saturday because of safety concerns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, although firefighters said determining the cause may be difficult with how much clutter was involved.
