Fire breaks out at Pier 56

SEATTLE — A fire broke out Saturday afternoon at the end of a pier along the Seattle waterfront, according to officials.

Reports came in of smoke and flames just after 2 p.m. on Pier 56 at 1201 Alaskan Way, where Elliot’s Oyster House is located. The restaurant was not involved in the fire.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the pilings that support the pier were on fire.

Crews were able to control the flames by using small boats, and going under the pier, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

There were no reports of injuries from the fire.
