BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The family of a 7-year-old boy who died after being trapped underwater in Bellingham's Whatcom Falls said they have donated his organs.
Rescue crews pulled Jaden Griffin from the water last Tuesday after he slipped on some rocks and plunged 30 feet over the falls.
KIRO 7 was told Sunday that after several days on life support, Jaden died late last week.
Monday, his family released a statement that said, in part:
"We would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers.
"Although we have lost Jaden, he has become a hero to three different individuals through organ donation."
