BELLEVUE, Wa. — The Bellevue City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve a revised agreement with Sound Transit that allows the East Link light rail project to move forward and begin construction in early 2016.
The East Link light rail will extend from Seattle through Bellevue via Interstate 90 and on to the Overlake Transit Center in Redmond. Following a public hearing April 13, council members added amendments to the plan to address public concerns, including traffic on Bellevue Way and noise.
The agreement amends a previous plan Sound Transit and the city of Bellevue signed in 2011. The Sound Transit Board is expected to vote on the council-approved agreement at its April 23 meeting.
