KENT, Wash. — An Auburn man accused of hitting an unruly 10-year-old boy at a Kent movie theater is facing felony assault charges.
The incident happened last month at the AMC Theater on Ramsay Way.
Police say 21-year-old Yong Hyun Kim asked some kids to be quiet, but when the boy and his friends refused to be quiet and kept throwing popcorn, he hopped over the seats and hit a boy in the face.
The force of the blow bloodied the boy's nose and knocked a tooth out of his mouth.
The boys told theater security and police arrived and arrested Kim.
According to court papers, Kim told officers he thought the boy was a grown man.
According to charging documents, when Kim was asked why he hit the 10-year-old boy he said, "I got so mad, that it just happened."
