SEATTLE — CBS Sunday Morning’s Charles Osgood has announced he will be taking the next few weeks off – to recover after knee surgery.
Osgood just celebrated his 83rd birthday last month -- on Jan. 8.
Three years ago, he celebrated by performing a song of reflection on his 80th birthday. "Man in the looking glass," he sings, delicately playing the piano. "Who can he be? Man in the looking glass. Can he possibly be me?"

Osgood will be undergoing knee surgery, having his right knee replaced.
"Not an unusual procedure these days," said Osgood. "Nothing to worry about unless of course it's your knee. I'll be taking the next few weeks off to get back on my feet, as it were. Then I'll be back here again as good as new."
Historically, Osgood’s primary fill-ins have been Jane Pauley and Lee Cowan.
