BELLEVUE, Wash. — About 100 people in Bellevue were without water Tuesday morning, after a water main broke overnight.
Bellevue Fire Department first reported 1,000 were without water, but the city later told KIRO 7 the number was actually 100.
The broken main is on Northeast 11th Street.
The break impacted residents in and around the Palisades Apartment complex off 140th Avenue Northeast. The city brought in portable toilets and cases of bottled water for those affected.
The pipe burst around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Once the water was shut off, workers were able to get in and start digging to make repairs.
The replacement pipe brought in appeared to be about 10 inches in diameter. Utility officials don't know what caused the pipe to break, but such incidents are not uncommon.
The repair was finished and the water turned on by 8 a.m.
