1 dead in White Center house fire

WHITE CENTER, Wash. — An elderly woman died in a house fire Saturday afternoon in White Center, according to officials.

The fire broke out at a home at 9807 28th Avenue Southwest before 5 p.m.

A resident in the neighborhood was walking around when they noticed smoke coming from the home. The neighbor immediately called 911.

Crews responded to the scene and firefighters found a woman’s body inside of the home.

Officials told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Deborah Horne the woman was about 71 years old.

The fire is currently being investigated.
