WHITE SALMON, Wash. — The wildfires between White Salmon and Husum, east of Highway 141, are now 50 percent contained and the fire remains at 1,614 acres, according to officials.
As of Sunday morning, the behavior of the fire consisted of slow, backing fire.
Significant smoke was scene late Saturday afternoon, which resulted in backing fire.
Fire lines constructed by crews held through Saturday evening, and there was no fire growth.
As of Sunday morning, about 650 personnel have been assigned to the fire.
According to officials, evacuations are at Level 2 and will remain within and adjacent to the perimeter of the fire.
There have been no reports of structural damage, losses or injuries to date.
Temperatures are expected to be lower on Sunday and Monday, and low relative humidity along with winds gusting between 20 to 30 miles per hour will continue as well.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
