Noah said the Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. Riley Williams III did not properly diagnose his illness and condition, didn’t refer him to specialists that had proper skills and training for his illness and negligently performed exams and surgery, CNN reported.
Noah did not disclose what illness or condition he was seeking treatment for.
The suit said Noah had received treatment from Williams III from Aug. 25, 2020, to Dec. 17, 2020, NBC News reported. He also underwent surgery on Nov. 23, 2020.
He said he “was rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled; sustained severe and painful personal injuries; sustained severe nervous shock, mental anguish, severe emotional distress and great physical pain; was confined to a bed and home for a long period of time; was compelled to undergo hospital and medical aid, treatment and attention; has suffered loss of enjoyment of life; was prevented from engaging in his usual occupation for a long period of time; and since some of his injuries are of a permanent nature, he will continue to suffer similar damages in the future,” NBC News reported.
An episode of “The Daily Show” aired on Nov. 19 before his surgery, which was on Nov. 23. He was off for seven days with the next episode airing Nov. 30, Us Weekly reported.
A spokesperson for the hospital told CNN that it has received the complaint and that it has given Noah’s attorney a “detailed rebuttal.”
HSS is one of the oldest orthopedic hospitals in the country and, according to its website, has been “ranked No. 1 in orthopedics for 12 years in a row by U.S. News & World Report,” Us Weekly reported.
