SAN ANTONIO — A Texas mom is facing charges after authorities said she struck an off-duty deputy with her car outside a charter school in San Antonio.
According to KSAT and WOAI, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred the morning of Aug. 30 as drivers were dropping off children at IDEA Walzem on Walzem Road. An off-duty Zavala County sheriff’s deputy was directing traffic when he saw Susan Rodriguez, 32, attempt to bypass the school’s normal traffic flow for drop-off, the affidavit said. The deputy approached Rodriguez and told her to return to the regular drop-off line, the document said.
“I don’t have time for this. I’m late for work,” Rodriguez replied, according to the document.
Rodriguez then hit the deputy with her vehicle before taking her child to the back of the school, the affidavit said.
The deputy arrested Rodriguez, who said she knew she had struck him, according to the affidavit. She was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and failure to stop and render aid, the news outlets reported.
