If you ever wanted to block out the world and just play pinball, now is your chance. The Museum of Pinball in Banning, California, is auctioning off its entire collection of machines.
The coronavirus pandemic added to the financial woes the museum was facing, so it had to pull the plug on the iconic games.
The Museum of Pinball is selling more than 1,700 arcade games and pinball machines online and in person, The New York Times reported.
The collection is worth more than $8 million according to Captain’s Auction Warehouse, KNBC reported.
One machine, a “Pirates of the Caribbean” collector’s edition pinball machine from 2018 could get bids of up to $35,000, the Times reported.
Some of the other machines that will be sold include “Star Wars,” “Superman” and “Ghostbusters” themed games that were collected by museum founder John Weeks.
Appropriately enough, there’s even a “Tommy” pinball machine on the auction block based on The Who’s musical about the game.
Before the museum closed, it was open for about nine days a year with about 9,000 visitors annually. Those visitors could buy a day pass for $80 or a weekend pass for $150 for unlimited games, The New York Times reported.
The warehouse that held the museum will be leased to a cannabis farm and Weeks said he didn’t have the money to move all of the games to Palm Springs.
The auction will run through Sunday and again from Sept. 24 through 26.
