EDMONDS, Wash. — The front of a semi was sheared off in a crash with a Sounder train near the Edmonds ferry dock.

The Northline train crashed with a TGR Transport Link semi at Main and Railroad Avenue around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

No one was hurt in the crash, but the crash blocked the tracks and canceled trains.

Video from Chopper 7 showed the front of the semi was sheared off.

The driver of the truck, Vasiliy Vasilyev, said he thought the ferry dock was a bridge.  When he realized his mistake, he tried to back up across the train tracks, but the train was already coming.

The truck became stuck when the crossing arm came down and the train couldn’t stop in time to avoid the crash.

The engine of the train was damaged and the car disconnected from the rest of the train.

The train had been traveling at about 40 mph, but was preparing to stop at the Edmonds station.

The passengers were put on buses to Seattle.

It was nearly three hours before the train and semi were moved off the tracks.  All remaining trains were headed into Seattle were canceled.

The truck driver said he was confused and lost.

“I'm not familiar with this place. I never was here before so that's why I trust my GPS, but I found that the road was closed,” said Vasilyev.
