Tacoma man beaten in road rage incident

TACOMA, Wash. — A Tacoma man was beaten on his way home from a road rage incident.

Ruben Serrato was changing lanes and noticed someone in a white truck following him at South 38th Street and South Thompson on Thursday evening.

Serrato told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Alison Grande that he was switching lanes and may have cut someone off unintentionally.

When Serrato arrived at his home, he said the white truck following him parked behind his vehicle.

“I was like what the heck, what’s his problem?” questioned Serrato. “I remember he got out of the car. That’s all I remember. I think it’s road rage, had to be road rage.”

Serrato passed out and later staggered to the front door.

“I couldn’t see his face it was all bloody,” said Serrato’s sister, Raquel Serrato-Blatchford. “I was in disbelief someone could do this to someone for crossing lanes. I think it was a very cowardly thing to do. This person needs to get help for their anger problem before they do this to someone else and actually kill them. It’s just ridiculous. They could have killed my brother.”

Serrato was taken to Tacoma General Hospital and contacted the Tacoma Police Department.

According to Serrato and his sister, police told them they had a similar attack on Monday.

“It’s just ridiculous, didn’t do anything, I hope they guy gets caught,” Serrato said.  “I got a broken nose, a fracture on my cheekbone -- up here is all numb.”

The Serrato’s informed KIRO 7 Saturday evening hoping someone might have witnessed the attack and could help police track down who is responsible.
