The headlights on your car might not be as good as you think, according to a new study released overnight.
The study from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety is the first in which they studied headlights on 31 midsize cars.
All but one of the cars received ratings of "acceptable," "marginal" or "poor."
The Toyota Prius was the only car to get a "good" rating, but only on cars that have a $7,000 upgrade to better headlights with "high beam assist."
Some of the worst-performing headlights were found on the most expensive luxury vehicles. For example, the BMW 3 series halogen lights had a "marginal" rating and two Mercedes models received "poor" ratings.
