TACOMA, Wash. — The shoulder pads were rushed from Douglas sporting equipment in Spokane overnight after the school district ordered them.
"We got 75 shoulder pads ordered yesterday (Tuesday) and they were here in 24 hours," said Stadium head coach Thomas Ford.
The team's equipment was soaked by floodwater after a powerful rainstorm deluged Stadium Bowl over the weekend.
The gear may have been contaminated by the water and isn't considered safe for use by the players until it's been cleaned and sanitized.
Ford said the new gear arrived just in time for the players to get some practice in -- before they play against Timberline High School in Lacey in just two days.
"We needed to have two padded practices. We'll have one today, we'll have one tomorrow and we'll be ready to play," said Ford.
Personal equipment belonging to the players has not been replaced, but the school's booster club has set up an account to accept donations to help.
