SEATTLE — The XFL is set to relaunch next February and Seattle’s team has a new name. But, it’s one that should still be pretty familiar to fans.
The names and brand identities of the league’s eight teams, including the Seattle Sea Dragons, were unveiled on Monday morning.

Seattle’s team was previously known as the Dragons, prior to the league being shut down just five weeks into its first season since 2001 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Since then, the league was purchased by a group including former WWE star Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, Dany Garcia and RedBird Capital Partners.

The new name also comes with a new logo: a green dragon with a scale pattern made of “overlapping emerald shaped scales,” a nod to the Emerald City, and a fiery roar, which serves as “an ode to the legendary intensity of Seattle’s relentless fans,” according to the league.
The Sea Dragons’ season kicks off on Feb. 18, the weekend after the Super Bowl.
