Woman arrested in Seattle after assaulting child, school bus driver

SEATTLE — A woman was arrested Tuesday morning after she assaulted a child, spit on a school bus driver and stole the keys to the bus, according to Seattle Police.

Officers were called after receiving reports of a woman acting erratically on an occupied school bus in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood.

Police arrived at the intersection of Broadway and Yesler Way around 8:45 a.m. They spoke with a 12-year-old girl who said she was waiting at the bus stop when the 44-year-old suspect approached her.

The woman reportedly yelled at the child and struck her several times with a plastic water bottle.

When the school bus arrived, the child quickly got onto the bus but the woman followed her.

The suspect then spit on the 58-year-old bus driver and stole the vehicle’s keys before fleeing on foot.

Officers were able to quickly locate the woman a few blocks away and take her into custody.

She was booked into the King County Jail for multiple counts of assault and vehicle theft.
