RENTON, Wash. — The Seahawks are taking on the Los Angeles Rams' high-powered offense at home without two of their Pro Bowlers on defense.

Tedric Thompson could make his first career start on Sunday for six-time Pro Bowler Earl Thomas, who is sidelined for the rest of this season.

“We were confident going into the season with him, with his ability and the things that he’s shown throughout the preseason,” Bobby Wagner, a Seahawks linebacker, said. “I think that the week Earl came back, T-2 (Thompson) had like four picks at practice. He’s a very hungry guy and we know he’s going to come out there and be excited.”

Pete Carroll said K.J. Wright, who had knee surgery during the preseason, will not play against the Rams at CenturyLink Field.

Mychal Kendricks started the last three games in place of Wright, but on Tuesday, Kendricks was suspended indefinitely for insider trading and is no longer available.

Austin Calitro will be starting for Wright at weakside linebacker against the Rams, who lead the NFL in total offense.

"This is a crucial opportunity for us, just as it was when he (Calitro) had to play for Bobby (Wagner) but we have good background with him. He has played good football so we feel fortunate that he knows the spot and is well-versed."

“When he’s out there, he’s a very smart player. (Calitro is) a guy that I love to play with, I love to play alongside of. I’m looking forward to it,” said Wagner. “We have a really great relationship, so the communication I know is going to be there. I think that’s the biggest thing.”

Dion Jordan, who was back at practice on Wednesday, is expected to play against the Rams.
After missing the game against the Arizona Cardinals, Carroll said Seahawks running back Chris Carson "should be fine" this weekend.
