Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz decried the violent protests in Seattle during a Monday news conference, promising to investigate and arrest those who damage property.
The news conference came after a 19-year-old man was charged with assault for allegedly attacking a Seattle police officer.
Jacob Greenberg, 19, has been charged with attempted arson, assault and reckless burning, according to court documents.
Investigators say the charges include his alleged involvement in setting fires and using a bat to hit a police officer in the head.

“This is not a peaceful protest. This is not civil disobedience. This is illegal, and this is violence,” Diaz said.
Diaz vowed to investigate and arrest protesters who destroy property or attack officers.
“The SPD will hold you accountable. We will work to provide all victims with some measure of justice,” Diaz said.
Danielle McMillan, 29, was also charged with arson for allegedly setting fires in Capitol Hill.
