Thieves back truck into Tacoma Walgreens in attempt to steal ATM

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police are investigating after thieves used a truck to smash into a drugstore in an attempt to steal an ATM.

Officers were called to the Walgreens in the 2000 block of Sixth Avenue at 3:24 a.m. Monday after the truck backed through the front entrance.

Video from the scene showed where the ATM was forced open and nearly destroyed.

Police said the thieves then abandoned the truck and left in a second vehicle.

“Makes me want to cry and throw up -- it really does. It’s so sad. This place here is for everybody in this neighborhood and these people are ruining it,” said Walgreens employee Reese Hudson.

A similar incident happened at a Renton Walgreens on Friday.
