PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County detectives said a man was arrested in his mother’s murder at South Hill apartment complex Thursday morning.
Deputies were called to a report of an attack in the parking lot of the Aspen Creek Apartments on 104th Ave. Ct. E. at 9:05 a.m.
Several witnesses said they saw a man hit a woman in the head with a large rock after an argument.
The first deputy to arrive found the suspect in the apartment complex a short distance away from the crime scene and arrested him while other deputies gave CPR to the critically injured woman.
The woman died at the scene. She was identified as the suspect’s mother.
The 27-year-old suspect is expected to be booked into the Pierce County Jail on murder charges.
Authorities are at the scene and will be working throughout the day to collect evidence and conduct interviews.
