The ski season kicked off today with Crystal Mountain Resort opening up at 9 a.m.
But excited skiers and boarders showed up hours earlier.
Duncan McNabb was one of the first in line.

“We were here about 4:45 – 5 a.m.,” McNabb said. “Just waiting all summer, keep legs strong and cobwebs out and stuff.”
Crystal opened the 2018-2019 ski season 10 days earlier than last year.
The resort got about 40 inches of snow in the last two weeks, but only three lifts are currently operating.
The reason? High eastern winds are knocking snow off the higher ridges.
“It’s looking thin and rocky up there,” Tiana Anderson, spokesperson for Crystal Mountain Resort, said. “But once you get down the ridge, it’s beautiful."
Given the limited runs, lift tickets are $45 for now, but prices will go up when the resort goes into full operation.
That could happen by this weekend with enough snow.
Mount Baker and Stevens Pass Ski resorts are set to open Thursday morning.
