State Route 203 between Carnation and Duvall will be closed this weekend for geotechnical work, transportation officials said.
WSDOT geotechnical engineers plan to drill into the road to install monitoring equipment to determine the cause of slow-moving landslide.
Earlier this month, a slide caused large jagged cracks to drop sections of the road.
“The equipment will monitor how the hillside is moving, the water content of the soil beneath the road and determine the type of material on which the road is built,” said the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Here’s a schedule of the weekend closure:
- From 8 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday, SR 203 will close between Northeast 124th Street in Duvall and Northeast Carnation Farm Road in Carnation.
- Local traffic will have access as far north as Northeast 88th Street and as far South as Northeast Stillwater Hill Road.
- Freight traffic will need to use SR 202.
Drivers should expect delays in the area.
