Seattle man recovers stolen cell-phone in encampment

SEATTLE — According to the Seattle Police blotter, a man was having a business lunch on Wednesday when another man walked by the table, grabbed his phone and ran off.

The victim’s phone case also contained his ID and business credit card.

Officers responded to the call to investigate the theft, when the victim was able to ping the location of his phone to a nearby homeless encampment.

Officers and the man found the thief, who still had the man’s phone when he was put into handcuffs.

After being told he was going to jail, he tried to flee, and head-butted an officer in the face.

The blotter post continued, saying the officers restrained the subject with minimal force until more officers arrived on the scene.

Seattle Fire was called after the subject started to claim he couldn’t breathe.

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for assault on a police officer and felony theft.

The recovered cell-phone was damaged beyond repair, and the man’s ID and business credit card were still missing.
