NORTH BEND, Wash. — The ground search for a missing hiker last seen in North Bend last week has been suspended, and deputies are now searching by helicopter.
Deputies said 61-year-old Shirley Baumann went hiking to Lake Blethen on July 20 using the Quartz Creek Trail from Middle Fork Road in North Bend.
She did not return Wednesday as planned. Deputies said her hiking and camping gear has been found.
Deputies described Baumann as being 5 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighing about 145 pounds with hazel eyes and blonde hair.
Deputies said belongings she would still have with her are brown sunglasses, reading glasses and a cellphone (not a smartphone).
Anyone with information on her location is asked to call 911 and/or the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.
