Seahawks' Justin Coleman spreads holiday cheer to local family in need

SEATTLE — A year after donating his game-worn jersey to benefit The Salvation Army in Seattle, Seahawks cornerback Justin Coleman continues to spread holiday cheer.

Coleman again partnered with the Salvation Army as part of its Adopt-A-Family Christmas assistance program to help a mother and her 9-year-old son.

In the Adopt-A-Family program, willing sponsors are matched with a family in need and are provided with a wish list of items the family needs and a few items the family wants.

“As a new father, I understand that drive and motivation to provide for my family, and it breaks my heart that there are parents out there struggling to make ends meet for their children. Making a little Christmas magic for Jeremiah and his mom this year was such a blessing to me, I loved getting to meet him in person and see the impact this will have on him. I hope it really made their Christmas bright, it certainly did mine," Coleman said when asked why he wanted to adopt a family this year.

Coleman, 25, has appeared in 31 games for the Seahawks since he was acquired from the New England Patriots for a seventh-round draft pick before the 2017 NFL season.

"We are so thankful to Justin for this generous donation and his continued willingness to make a difference for those in need in Seattle," Capt. Anthony Barnes said. "We hope to keep working with Justin to raise awareness about the need in our community and different ways people can give back."

The Seahawks close out the regular season Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at CenturyLink Field.
