Thousands of students in Western Washington walked out of their classrooms Wednesday morning as part of a national demonstration to protest gun violence. It honored the lives of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and pressed lawmakers to pass stricter gun control laws.
There's not an official list from school districts about which schools participated today. But according to EMPOWER, the youth branch of the Women's March that organized the action, nearly 100 schools participated. See a map of schools that students say participated here.
Students who walked out of school face unexcused absences in most districts.
