Russell Wilson shares tear-jerking tribute to late father

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson shared a tear-jerking tribute to his dad Sunday on social media, thanking his late father for pushing him in life, sports and school.

He might have broken the internet’s heart.

"Thanks for being a real man & real dad by inspiring me & loving me & teaching me how to play ball & treat others with Love and Respect," Wilson writes in an Instagram post. "I fight for greatness everyday bc you did. I will reach for the stars…Bc you told me to."

Wilson's father, Harrison Wilson III, was a rookie wide receiver with the Chargers in 1980. Harrison Wilson died in 2010 after a long battle with diabetes. He was 55.

“I’m smiling today bc you are with God & there is no better joy to know you made it,” Wilson continues. “Love you Pops.”

Wilson's father died two years before Russell joined the Seahawk in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft and four years before Russell led the Seahawks to the franchise's first Super Bowl championship.
