RENTON, Wash. — A 77-year-old man who was reported missing by his family on Feb. 12 has been found dead, according to Renton police.

Police had sought the public’s help in finding Jerry Rye, who was last seen around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 at his apartment complex in the 300 block of Wells Avenue South.

Rye’s family told police he suffered from memory loss and had some health-related complications that could put him at high risk without medical attention.

His body was found around 5:30 p.m. Saturday after officers received a report that a body was found behind a building at 4900 Shattuck Place South in Renton.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they were able to determine the deceased individual was Rye.
