Person found dead inside Seattle home damaged by fire

SEATTLE — A person was found dead inside a two-story home that caught fire on Wednesday evening, Seattle firefighters said.

Crews were called at 5:22 p.m. to the 1600 block of 18th Avenue.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw flames and heavy smoke coming from the front of the home.

Firefighters were told by neighbors that a person inside had been unaccounted for.

While searching the home, firefighters said they found a dead man inside.

No others were inside or injured.

The fire was put out within half an hour.

Officials have not said what caused the fire but are investigating along with Seattle police.
