PORLAND, Ore. — Oregon marijuana retailers are beginning to remove vaping products from their shelves amid a nationwide scare over severe lung illnesses and deaths that have been tied to electronic cigarettes.
Kind Leaf Pendleton, a large retailer in Pendleton, Oregon, said Thursday it is pulling 68 vape pens from 15 brands because they contain additives that aren't specified on the ingredient list.
The agency that regulates Oregon's marijuana industry told the AP that it will ask retailers to review shelves and pull products they have concerns about.
Authorities say an Oregon man who purchased vapes at a legal pot store is one of the six people who died.
Investigators haven't pinpointed what's causing the lung problems.
After testing, New York investigators are focused on vitamin E acetate, which is added to some vapes.
