Police arrest suspect in Alki Beach shooting

SEATTLE — Feb. 6, 2020 update: Seattle police said gang detectives identified and arrested a 21-year-old suspect in Sunday’s Alki beach shooting.

Investigators said the suspect was arrested Wednesday in Snohomish County.

He will be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are investigating after a man was shot and injured early Sunday at Alki Beach.

Officers responded to reports of someone shot in the 2600 block of Alki Avenue Southwest. Witnesses told them that the 21-year-old victim was approached by a group of men while he was sitting at a fire pit.

The witnesses said that there was then a fight, and shots were fired and the group scattered.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his head and was taken to Harborview Medical Center by medics.

Gang unit detectives are now investigating.
