SEATTLE — An investigation is underway after a man was shot as he clung to the outside of his car during a carjacking in the Northgate neighborhood Wednesday evening, according to Seattle police.
At 7:40 p.m., officers were called to reports of a man firing a rifle near Eighth Avenue Northeast and Northeast Northgate Way.
Shortly after, a man called 911 and said he had been shot during an attempted carjacking.
Police said the man had gunshot wounds to his arm and buttocks.
The man told officers he was in his car in the 11000 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast when several suspects approached and took his car at gunpoint.
The victim said he was shot as he clung to his car as the carjackers drove away. The suspects then abandoned the car, and the victim got back in and drove to a nearby business for help.
Seattle Fire Department medics transported the 25-year-old victim to Harborview Medical Center.
Officers spoke with witnesses and collected evidence at the scene.
Robbery detectives will continue to investigate.
